Take Your Teacher to Work Day is designed to provide teachers the opportunity to experience working in an occupation of your choice for one school day. The experience is designed to help you gain a greater understanding of the businesses and careers in our community by observing, discussing, and participating in the daily activities and responsibilities related to the career. Your business host will share his or her educational background, personal career history, ideas about career development, and the essential skills and education necessary to be successful in the profession.
After the teacher has completed the career shadowing experience, he or she will have newly acquired knowledge and skills to share with students in the classroom. You may share this experience through a power point presentation, slide show, follow- up class activities (suggestions provided), mock interviews, or other activities of your choice. The work experience gained will encourage the teacher to create a relevancy between classroom education and student career pathways.
